WELCOME
Hello, My name is Seden. I am architecture student and this is my digital portfolio.
ARCH 101
EXHIBITION
This day was my first exhibition day. I reversed my previous works and finally I produced this model ( the photo next to ). I learned in this model how I can order principles of the 3D organization.

ARCH 101

In this assigment, I needed to work on hinge and treshold. We visited METU as a whole class on 10/12/24 . It was really good experience for me. I tried to look at buildings by focusing on architecturel terms. I tried to take photos different approach. I put here some of them. In this photos, we can diffirentiate hinge and treshold. Because of the this assigment, I learned these terms well. ( Photographs by Seden Taşcıoğlu )

Final Jury
This was my last assignment in this semester. In this project, we revised our pre jury work by adding our new information like hinge and threshold. Also, we can apply texture and thickness on the elements. In my project, There is a linear organization, and my groups are merging accordingly. My groups consist of two different volume types: open and closed volumes, which I represent in my diagram. The reason why my thick element is thick is because it both separates the groups and volumes and has a relationship with the core. I applied the texture only to the cut and folded elements, of which there are three in total. I also associated these with the lineer elements, and while placing the lineer, I considered the axial direction. Then, I applied texture to the folded parts. Also, I made a animation to explain these relationship so you can watch it with using link. (https://youtu.be/dgbgRSoweyc)

ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

CUMHURBAŞKANLIĞI ORKESTRA BİNASI

KÜÇÜK TİYATRO

ERZURUMLU NAFİZ BEY APARTMANI
In this homework, we needed to take photos specific structures. I traveled these three areas. I usually take photos anyway but this was different because when I looked at the structures, I focused on frame, light / shadow conditions. (Photographs by Seden Taşcıoğlu)

BarbicanEstate_JoasSouza

In this assigment, I needed to abstract this image. We can talk about level of abstraction. For example, In this image, I omitted some parts and I prefered to abstract stairs by changing the distances and thicknesses of the lines.

ARCHITECTURAL COLLAGE

In this assignment, we explored collage as a design method by collecting and combining various digital and physical materials to convey spatial ideas and narratives. The section drawing is based on the Maison de Verre, but the composition and interpretation are my own.
ARCH 112
PLAN - SECTION - ELEVATION

In this assignment, we tried to draw the plan, section, and elevation of the Maison de Verre building based on the information we gathered.
ARCH 112

This assignment focused on modeling. We specifically concentrated on the staircase of the building we studied, the Maison de Verre. What makes this staircase special is the presence of gaps between the steps and its folding structure. While modeling, I found it challenging to work with these gaps.
ARCH 102

In this assignment, we conducted a spatial investigation focusing on how specific architectural operations can transform human experiences within a space, while also examining the significant role that linear elements play in shaping movement, perception, and spatial continuity.

Regulating Lines
In this homework I have read the text about 'Regulating Lines'. The text emphasizes the position and importance of regulating lines in architecture. The way of using regulating lines has changed and developed from primitive times to the present. For example, while we talk about people's hands and feet in the past, today we mostly talk about geometric shapes. Geometry is the language of people. When we combine pieces with axes, circles and angles, the results that our eyes can notice are angles. This is called rhythm. In fact, the selection of a regulating line fixes the basic geometry of the construction. In my opinion, this forms the main basis of the sample constructions given in the text. In all of them, regulating lines facilitate our understanding of the entire organization and contain great meaning. At this point, regulating lines are the basis of the construction and satisfaction because nothing is purposeless or random in the structure.(Reference for the photo: Le Corbusier (1985), Towards a New Architecture )

What does music mean?
In this assigment, I watched the video ' What does music mean? '. I want to start by explaining what music isn't. Music is not a story or a picture. It is what it makes us feel when we hear it. It is like an abstraction. what do I mean? For example, when we draw something, we can't say that is a picture of something (fish, flower, tree) or that is look like a something (fish, flower, tree) , it is only our expression and belongs to us. The same applies to music. When we hear music, it doesn't tell us a story or a picture. What emerges when we listen to it is the expression of our feelings and emotions. So, we can't attribute a certain meaning to music because everyone's feelings can be different from others. Also, I want to mention an interesting difference about music. We can express some of our feeling with using words. Words have a meaning as well as a visual that we visualize in our minds, but we can't express the image of something or clear meaning with music. Because of that , some of our feelings and emotions that we can't define revealed with music. In other words , we can understand that it is something abstract in this respect, too.
ABOUT ME

In here, I want to give some information about my self. I added here photos. I love do something about art. So, I try to experience of art in different ways. Some of them are painting and making ceremics. These was my first experience of them. I had a lot of fun making them.
